ROBERT STEINBUCH: Unlikely change

Last Friday, my fellow columnist Dana Kelley wrote: "For Democrats and their ilk to continue repeating the same things that lost them the White House and the Senate only lends maximum credence to [the] claim that even if [Trump] cured cancer, they would still hate him . . . Endlessly attacking, belittling, vilifying, demonizing and otherwise character-assassinating . . . has cost the Democrats and liberal news outlets dearly in credibility, party loyalty, the popular vote and the Electoral College." Little did Kelley likely know how prescient his words would be.

The same night that Kelley's column went to print, state Sen. Dan Sullivan and I gave a presentation at the Jonesboro library on various laws enacted this session. As far as I could tell, all of the attendees were leftists, which would've been just fine but for the audience members' near-universal lack of interest in conversing. They sought, instead, to attack, belittle, vilify, demonize, and otherwise character-assassinate, precisely as Kelley described. Here's a soupçon of the smorgasbord of bad behavior:

One self-entitled and self-identified local library board member repeatedly yelled at us that she only wanted to hear from Sullivan. We reminded her that she was the guest, not the other way around. She was unfazed.

After recurrently interrupting Sullivan and fellow audience members, another attendee wearing a paper surgical mask boldly announced that she was leaving the meeting and summoned others to follow. No one did. That........
