The Shaking of the Liberal Foundations

Now the world has changed with the indictment of the leading fighter against far-right racism and violent extremism, the SPLC.

Christopher Chantrill | April 27, 2026

At what moment did you decide that the world had changed?

I suppose for most of us it was the 2016 election of Donald Trump, a billionaire with no previous political experience. Imagine that! A billionaire! How come you hadn’t taxed his extreme wealth away already, Sen. Warren (D-MA)?

Every great Change makes all of us reevaluate the past. Today we know that Trump was coming, after the Silent Majority of Richard Nixon, the Reagan Democrats, the Tea Party of 2010. Of course.

Yes, it is always obvious after the fact.

Now the world has changed with the indictment of the leading fighter against far-right racism and violent extremism, the SPLC, noble warrior against a Deep South riddled with KKK armed insurrectionists. Apparently SPLC was running its own private Intelligence Community with spooks and embedded agents and fake “color revolution” tactics. Or maybe the CIA was running the SPLC.

Imagine what our liberal friends are thinking. No, wait. Imagine what our liberal friends are feeling in the aftermath of the SPLC indictments!

Imagine no more. Our liberal friends are being swept away by a flood on that River in Egypt, and are busily declaring that all the SPLC ever did was fight for justice.

But you know what? After the SPLC indictments, I think that Eric Hoffer was wrong when he wrote that "every great cause begins as a movement, becomes a business, and eventually degenerates into a racket." I propose the following mild revision:

Every political racket disguises itself for a season as a great cause fighting for justice.Advertisement if(page_width_onload
