Where has the summer gone? School is starting as is the planting season for the winter vegetable crops. It has been periodically very hot and hopefully we will have somewhat lower temperatures as the monsoon moves in, although now we have humidity.

It is amazing to watch the process of moving from one crop to the next. Our 12-month agriculture does not leave a lot of time to get all the work done so it is important that our growers have all the technology that is available.

Use of global positioning systems on all type of equipment allows field preparation to continue 24 hours a day. Whether it is discing, lasering or establishing rows for planting, it can be done at night.

I saw fields that had piles of used plastic pipe that had been removed from the field and awaiting disposal. Many of the various drip systems are only used once.
