Council set to ban bonfire over safety but others hit back saying ‘it’s tiny!’

A huge mound of furniture and other items which has been dumped for a bonfire in a Valleys park has prompted the council, police and fire service to get involved

A bonfire in a Valleys park has triggered action from the council, police and fire service over safety fears. The huge pile of rubbish and furniture at Mount Pleasant Park in Porth has split opinion among residents.

While the November 5 bonfire has become a tradition, many say it’s now out of control. The council has urged people not to add to it or hold unofficial events, warning that such fires can quickly become dangerous.

Officials said teams often find hazardous items like tyres, mattresses and gas canisters in unregulated bonfires. They are now working with police and fire crews to manage the........
