Describing the state of artificial-intelligence regulation as “the Wild West,” the OneCity press release announced that, if elected, the party would ban the wearing of wearable digital recording devices, such as smart glasses, in municipal spaces like parks, community centres, pools, and libraries.

The proposal might not generate much debate. Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim, whose ABC Vancouver party controls a majority on council, said in an email: “As with any public safety or privacy issue, ABC Vancouver would be more than willing to look at appropriate bylaws and enforcement measures, including in this area.”
