A video of an Islamic march featuring thousands of black and hijab-clad Muslims chanting “Allah” and a bunch of gibberish through the streets of Dearborn, Michigan that looks like it could have been filmed in any random Middle Eastern Muslim country went viral and drew outrage on X last week. The account that posted it included a call for Tom Homan’s ICE to deal with the problem by going in and deporting illegals.

It’s a justifiable sentiment, but good luck with that. Shockingly, almost 60,000 of the approximately 105,000 residents of Dearborn are of Middle Eastern or North African ancestry. Almost all of those are Arab American Muslims. The problem for the poster, and for anyone else who thinks deporting illegals is the solution to what ails us, is that almost all of them are lawful citizens of the United States, a product of Arab immigration that began almost 100 ago and intensified by waves of refugee resettlements from decades of Middle Eastern conflicts caused in no small part, ironically, by American intervention overseas.

Given the numbers, it should be no surprise to find the city run by Muslims. As conservative commentator Matt Walsh pointed out in another viral post: “The mayor of Dearborn, Michigan is Abdullah Hammoud. The guy running against him in the mayoral race is Nagi Almudhegi. The mayor's chief of staff is Zaineb A. Hussein. The police chief is Issa Shahin. He oversees the commander of the patrol division, Madou Bazzi. The public health director is Ali Abazeed. Don't forget city council members Kamal Alsawafy and Mustapha Hammoud.”
