With an ambitious target set by Ontario of building 1.5 million homes by 2031, this benchmark reflects the urgency of the province’s housing needs. Demand for housing continues to rise, population growth is accelerating, and affordability is slipping further out of reach — yet the pace of new home delivery continues to lag behind.
The development environment is often characterized by slow, inconsistent approvals, infrastructure that isn’t keeping up and fragmented policies that create more friction than progress.
