Editorial: Troy GOP is stuck in the past on videoconferencing

Troy's Republican leadership seems determined to be hidebound in opposing a proposed law that would allow videoconference participation at Troy City Council meetings.
As the Times Union’s Tyler A. McNeil reported late last month, Republican Councilman Ryan Brosnan, District 2, joined Democrats in supporting the proposal, noting that it allowed people to participate even if they were sick or tending to a loved one.

Yet Troy Mayor Carmella Mantello, citing her own efforts to attend meetings even while caring for her son, pooh-poohed the notion. She and other Republicans further criticized the plan over worries that nonresidents would dominate meetings.
