Editorial: Don't green-light this ambulance plan
Use of the Rensselaer Volunteer Ambulance building is at issue in the city of Rensselaer.
Bad politics? That's what Rensselaer's Republican mayor claims is at play by Democrats questioning an organization's plan to lease garage space to an ambulance provider that isn’t the one currently serving the city. Nope, sorry, something smells fishy here, but it doesn't reek of partisanship.
Mohawk Ambulance has had the city contract to provide emergency services since 2012. The contract says that Mohawk will house ambulances in the city when the city finds space.
