Churchill: Let's cool it with the Nazi talk

TROY — In a short online video that’s sparking outrage, Shikole Struber is sitting in her car and speaking to the camera.
“I just finished a workout,” Struber says in the social media post, “because my trainer told me I needed to prepare to fight some Nazis. You know the best way you can do that is by getting involved on your local level. I’m getting ready to run for Troy City Council, and I challenge all of you to get involved as well.”

My first thought was that Struber should find herself a different trainer.
My second was, wait, who are the Nazis?
Since Struber, 36, is a Democrat running for council in District 2, north of downtown, it’s easy to presume she was referring to her opponent, incumbent Ryan Brosnan, other Republicans in the city or the GOP more broadly.
That’s how many Troy Republicans took it, leading to predictable and understandable outrage. Brosnan, though, seemed mostly bemused by a charge so obviously over the top. What could he say?
