In the final days of 2024, Gov. Kathy Hochul vetoed a bill to improve access to mental health care in New York by adding licensed creative arts therapists to the Medicaid provider list. She stated the matter should be addressed through the state’s budgetary process instead.

Now the budget is nearly due for a vote — and we hope the governor will follow through and support the language the Senate and Assembly have added to their budget resolutions.
