A 51-year-old woman was found stabbed to death in an apartment in Bat Yam on Sunday, leading to an hours-long standoff between the police and her partner on the building’s roof, from which he eventually jumped and died.

Police told Hebrew-language media that the partner was suspected of killing the woman.

The two had recently separated, according to the Kan public broadcaster.

The Magen David Adom emergency service said medics pronounced the woman dead on the scene.

After the stabbing, the man barricaded himself on the roof of the building for long hours, as police negotiators tried to persuade him to come down.

According to Ynet, the negotiators spoke to the man in Russian, and passersby heckled him, calling him a “murderer” and a “coward.”
