Israel Beyond the Headlines

Every day we are surrounded by headlines about conflict, politics, and division. Those stories dominate television screens, newspapers, and social media. They often leave little room for another reality that deserves just as much attention. It is time to stand up for Israel and create awareness about the remarkable achievements, compassion, innovation, and beauty that define this extraordinary nation.

Israel is far more than the conflicts that so often make international news. It is a country built on resilience, determination, creativity, and hope. Behind every scientific breakthrough, humanitarian mission, archaeological discovery, and cultural celebration are people who believe that tomorrow can be better than today.

One of my own reminders of this comes from a friend who once served as a very high ranking officer in the Israeli army. Despite decades of service defending his country, he is not afraid to travel to Europe. At the same time, I often find myself lying awake at night because I see the growing hostility toward Jews across the world. History has taught us that hatred should never be ignored. Yet my friend continues to face the future with optimism, dignity, and confidence. That spirit reflects something I have encountered repeatedly during my many visits to Israel. Israelis acknowledge challenges, but they refuse to let those challenges define their lives.

Perhaps nowhere is Israel’s determination more visible than in medicine. Israeli researchers have become global leaders in developing technologies and treatments that save lives every single day. Hospitals, universities, and research centers work together to improve cancer treatment, develop artificial intelligence for healthcare, create advanced diagnostic tools, and pioneer new surgical techniques.
