World Security Awaits Our Moral Choice’

(Reflection on the Haftorah for Ki Tissa)

(Book of Kings 1, 18:1 -39)

Who and what we choose to believe becomes

The very foundation to build one’s life.

The choice is the guidepost to one’s essence.

Elijah the prophet decried the rulers

Of his time, who chose falsehood over truth,

Accommodation to multitude clamor,

Noise in the midst of chaos of the masses,

Obliterating the “still small voice” of truth

The “still small voice” awaits to be heard;

Yet, the same debacle is played out

From generation to generation

For an awakening to the alarm of conscience,

To revive the world with guidance

To an era of stability and security.
