Virtually every one born between 1997 and 2012, “Generation Z,” carries a smartphone in their pocket. This means Gen Z has more access to information than any generation in history. With unparalleled access to news and opinions, we are the first generation to witness history in real-time, watching events unfold right in front of our faces.

However, this access comes with a heavy price: we are also the most targeted generation in history for digital psychological warfare. For years, foreign actors have been playing the long game. Countries like Qatar have poured billions of dollars into the American education system, funding prestigious universities and quietly shaping curricula. Take Cornell University, for example.
