Based on information and evidence available to us, there are indications of a proposed military project reportedly involving Turkey, the Federal Government of Somalia (Villa Somalia), Egypt, and financial support from Qatar in the Las Anod area of the Sool region. According to our assessment, preliminary activities may already have commenced, suggesting that the initiative has progressed beyond the planning stage.

If these reports prove accurate, the project could include the construction of a military airport facility and the deployment of approximately 3,000 military personnel equipped with modern weapons systems and supporting infrastructure. Such a development could significantly alter the regional security environment in the Horn of Africa and the Gulf of Aden, with implications for the Republic of Somaliland, Puntland, Ethiopia, and the wider Red Sea region.
