Staten Island remains the forgotten borough.
If you have any doubts, you just need to check out an exchange from the Democratic mayoral debate the other night.
The candidates were asked what borough they had spent the least amount of time in.
The dominant answer was, you guessed it, Staten Island.
That fact held true for the top candidates in the race: former Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani.
And here’s the sad truth: the same will probably remain true no matter who gets elected mayor.
I don’t know exactly how often GOP mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa gets here, but I do know he’s a lot more familiar with Staten Island and has been here more often than any other off-Island politician or personality that I’ve covered. To the point that Sliwa probably........
