Some words for the Senator
The news of the release of former Senator Mushahid Ahmed Khan brought a sense of relief and satisfaction. However, after reading his Facebook post, the reaction was not entirely pleasing.
He expressed gratitude towards Turkey, which in itself is understandable and appropriate. Yet a question naturally arises. What about Pakistan Did Pakistan have no role in this process Was there no contribution from Pakistan in securing his release
Either gratitude should have been expressed in a balanced manner or it should have been avoided altogether rather than selectively acknowledging one country while overlooking another.
This is not the first time such a pattern has been observed. In the previous instance as well, Pakistan made significant diplomatic efforts for his release. He was received by the Pakistani ambassador and extended hospitality was also arranged through Pakistani diplomatic channels. Despite these efforts, Pakistan was not acknowledged in the same way.
