While the identity of the actor has changed from the story last week, the message is the same: Oil is not doing well due to fears of a supply bonanza and a decrease in demand. While some people dream of the return of $1 a gallon gas as a result of the fall of the Maduro regime and the opening of Venezuela’s rich oil fields to Chevron, BP, et al., the story is much, much more complicated than that. Among many problems that President Donald Trump will have to address in his administration of the country is that the quality of Venezuela’s oil is poor and needs to be refined in order to be usable in many applications.
