In addition to its role as an aerial refueler, the KC-46 could become a sensor node over the long distances of the Pacific Ocean, further increasing its importance.
The US Air Force has nearly quadrupled Boeing’s KC-46A Pegasus foreign-sales contract ceiling, raising it from $5.7 billion to $19.1 billion. This means that Boeing will be allowed to sell around $13.4 million more in KC-46A aircraft and associated support before the Pentagon must re-approve it.
The ceiling raise supports the KC-46A’s existing customers, Japan and Israel, as well as potential future buyers like Qatar, which has been cleared for a possible four-aircraft purchase. To be clear, no money has yet........
