In the high-stakes theatre of West Asian diplomacy, Pakistan has emerged as an improbable but indispensable architect of de-escalation. By facilitating the “Islamabad Talks” in April 2026 and securing a critical ceasefire between the United States and Iran, Islamabad has moved from the periphery to the centre of global power brokerage. However, this rise as a credible mediator has triggered a sophisticated and coordinated “narrative war”, designed to delegitimise Pakistan’s role and sustain a state of perpetual regional confrontation.
A coherent pattern of misinformation has emerged across Western and pro-Israeli media platforms, timed precisely with Pakistan’s mediation successes. The opening salvo was a CBS report alleging that Pakistan was secretly sheltering Iranian military aircraft, including an RC-130 reconnaissance variant, at Nur Khan Airbase. Despite swift denials from Islamabad and the logistical impossibility of hiding a foreign fleet in the heart of a garrison city, the story was designed to plant a seed of “unreliability” in Washington’s mind.
