COP 30 Promises

Climate change is roiling the world with adverse impacts, from hurricanes and floods to fires and extreme heat. To address these negative effects, the United Nations Climate Change Conferences (or COPs) are held every year and are the world’s only multilateral decision-making forum, which makes climate governance measures with almost full membership from every country in the world. In this conference, the world comes together to agree on ways to deal with the environmental crisis, such as limiting global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius, helping vulnerable communities adapt to the effects of climate change and reducing carbon emissions to achieve net zero by 2050.

Presently, there is an urgent need to promote a transition to more sustainable energy sources to limit the greenhouse gas emissions and tackle the climate crisis. So, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Conference (COP 30) is being held in Brazil, and thousands of diplomats, experts, business leaders and activists from around the world are arriving in the city of Belém in the Amazon region of Brazil to participate in it, where efforts will be made to reach a consensus on more stringent measures to implement climate action promises and reduce global greenhouse gas emissions. Despite numerous annual conferences from Kyoto Protocol to COP 29 in Baku, Azerbaijan and the promises made in them, the earth is continuously warming. There is much more........
