Former aide to Prime Minister Imran Khan and PTI leader Zulfiqar Bukhari’s decision to testify before the United States Congress Human Rights Commission on political repression in Pakistan is a deeply misjudged move, one that risks harming both Pakistan’s image and the political future of the PTI itself. There is a clear line between legitimate political protest and actions that endanger a country’s international standing. Unfortunately, the PTI’s unrelenting drive to secure Imran Khan’s release appears to have disregarded that line entirely.
