Still questions after supervisor’s debate

Thanks to The Gazette for hosting the supervisor’s debate on Sept. 18. I left the debate with several questions on the following:

Route 7: Dorion emphasized that it is a state road. However, two fatal crashes were in Niskayuna.

More police patrols are not solving the problem. Neither Dorion nor board members signed the petition initiated by Joe Yakel requesting immediate action by the state.

Budget issues: The supervisor claimed that the town is financially solvent, defending the use of fund balance to balance the budget. Non-recurring revenue causes deficits. If Niskayuna is financially stable, why are she and the board cutting services such as the transfer station, possible elimination of brush pick-up, and raising fees and taxes?

Water/sewer fees: The supervisor insisted they were reviewing options. Prior to commissioning the Raftelis study, Dorion stated that rate increases were necessary. Why didn’t they return to the original rates, since they didn’t understand the calculations?

Communication: The supervisor didn’t address the three-minute limit at board meetings.........
