Neighbor helped garden sparkle
The Soroptimists of Schenectady has established a peace garden at the bottom of Governors Street (just a short stroll off Front Street) in the Stockade overlooking the Mohawk River. Since 2016, people have found a peaceful place to sit and remember local victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. Over the years, the garden blooms from spring through fall and has grown beyond our dreams.
I want to take this opportunity to thank “Jack,” who has been watering, unbeknownst to us, and is the reason the flowers have taken off this year, even with the heat and lack of rain. He is a neighbor who deserves to be honored.
I hope people visited the Soroptimist garden during the Stockade Art Show and enjoyed the view. You will know it by the “S” filled with white stones and the blue bench.

Great arena … but lower the volume
I have been a fan of Union College hockey since the Ned Harkness days and a season ticket holder for more than 20 years. So,........
