Good gov’t requires an attentive public

On Jan 6, 2026, I attended our Clifton Park Town Board meeting and was appalled at the attitude of the three Democrat members of the board. The resolutions they presented and passed were vindictive and possibly worse.

The three Democrat board majority voted to redact portions of previous minutes of Clifton Park’s town records. The redaction was unfavorable to a former board member and to the highway superintendent.

The former board member and the highway superintendent picked the law firm that investigated the allegations. The investigation found in favor of the town.

This redaction looks like a “whitewash” to me. For people who campaigned on promising transparency, this to me is a cover-up. The investigation cost the taxpayers thousands of dollars.

The same former council person (who resigned her position) now has been appointed as confidential consultant to the town board.

And to add to the problem, the board voted 3-2 to settle a lawsuit against........
