It’s time for a philosophical change in government

At the time of the last presidential election, I truly believed that our country needed a philosophical change in government. I still do. Over a century ago, our nation had a strong president who may well be our greatest elected president to date — Theodore Roosevelt.

Teddy’s mantra, “Walk softly and carry a big stick,” was neither bellicose nor belligerent. It was subtle and preparatory. It was cautious and protective. It was a very effective, staid and controlled approach to the operation and security of the United States during his presidency.

Teddy’s mantra was certainly not underwritten by boastful broadcasts and rambling proclamations at every turn. While President Roosevelt often spoke of his planned approach for governmental relations, his crafted subtlety seemed to work best for our nation.

Now, we cannot have a president that operates on the delusion that he has a “very good working........
