Why should some city residents be subsidizing the trash bills of other city residents?

That’s what appears to be happening with the city of Schenectady’s new trash sticker program, and it’s time city officials move to the next phase of the program by considering charging more for residents who put out more trash.

Mayor Gary McCarthy has resurrected the idea for setting a limit on the amount of trash that residents may put out under the new sticker system, in which residents are charged an extra fee for disposal of bulk items.
