“I’m sorry, but we can’t offer you the job.”

“But I don’t understand. Do you think I’m not qualified enough?”

“Oh no. You’re very qualified. More than any of our other candidates.”

“Ummm, did I say something wrong or inappropriate in the interview?”

“No, it wasn’t that either. Your interview was perfect. You answered all our questions completely, and we very much enjoyed talking with you.”

“Were my references bad?”

“No, they all gave you glowing recommendations, and everyone we spoke to told us we’d be lucky to have you.”

“Well, then why am I not getting the job?”

“Unfortunately, you don’t live within city limits. It’s a deal-breaker.........
