When there was a village

It is almost 80 years ago. This is the story of a teenage boy. The boy ran courageously here and there and played. In the village where the boy lived, there were as many as 30 friends of the same age, as well as those who were older and younger than him. There were various kinds of fruit trees such as persimmon and quince planted in the village. It was a village that grew rice. The boy’s family could grow and harvest rice with many workers.

On holidays like Lunar New Year's Day or Chuseok, the family had a great feast. Women had to prepare for food and festivities. Their lives were tough. On the day of feasts, the boy would take rice cakes on plates from his house, go from door to door and share the warm rice cakes with his neighbors. Everyone knew one another very well in this village.

When morning came, the boy ate breakfast with his grandparents, went out and played together with his little friends, running around the village and the mountain. During the 1910-45 Japanese colonial rule, not........
