Strengthening Bulgaria-Korea ties
The reception celebrating Bulgaria’s National Day and the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Korea was held on Feb. 28 in Seoul, hosted by H.E. Petar Kraytchev, ambassador of Bulgaria to the Republic of Korea and Chairman Kim Hi-yong, honorary consul general of the Republic of Bulgaria. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Planning and Coordination H.E. Bae Jong-in delivered remarks as the guest of honor, representing the Republic of Korea. The event was a vibrant showcase of Bulgaria’s rich heritage and a testament to the growing ties between the two nations. Among the distinguished guests, I had the opportunity to reconnect with Mr. Iliya Dekov, Minister Plenipotentiary and Head of the Commercial and Economic Office at the Bulgarian Embassy. He reminded me of our memorable encounter at Somerset’s Rooftop BBQ party in Seoul in October 2023—an event that remains a cherished memory.
