Sector 62 in Noida is remarkably boring. There are office buildings and scattered roadside tea stalls. But of late, tucked amid this mundane hum is a data centre. A Rs 744-crore joint venture between Adani Group and American data-centre provider Edgeconnex.

“The plot used to be mostly sleepy, with lush peepul trees,” said a 78-year-old resident who has lived nearby for decades.

There were eight peepul trees, to be exact. And according to an environmental-clearance report accessed by The Ken, they were transplanted on-site........
