Eighty years since the end of World War II, a picture is coming into focus in which Russia and China are attempting to destroy the rules-based international order that has been established by the United States, Europe and Japan.
Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, who visited Moscow to attend a ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the former Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany.
A joint statement issued after the talks said that it is necessary to eliminate the root causes regarding Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. This appears to reflect Russia’s assertions denying the very independence of Ukraine.
