Watch live: Hegseth, Caine brief on Iran operation amid blockade

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Dan Caine will brief reporters Thursday morning on the U.S. military operation in Iran, just over a week into the fragile ceasefire between the Trump administration and Tehran.

President Trump imposed a blockade on the Strait of Hormuz this week, pushing back on Iran for implementing tolls in the key oil shipping channel. China’s ties to Iran have also complicated matters.

Vice President Vance traveled to Pakistan last weekend for talks with Iranian officials over bringing an end to the conflict that began in late February — though they failed to make headway toward a long-term peace deal.

The press conference is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. EDT.
