Twenty-five years after four jets took down the World Trade Center, crashed into the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania, the Trump administration is stepping gingerly into a loosening of tight airport security measures implemented in the aftermath.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a Muslim, has faced criticism for plans to attend the ceremony at Ground Zero. Some 9/11 families, along with former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, have cited past critical remarks from Mamdani’s political allies.
