Live updates: As Trump departs Beijing, China calls for end to Iran conflict

President Trump departed China on Friday after a two-day summit with President Xi Jinping, that underscored dueling priorities and resulted in a potentially steadier relationship but no apparent major business deals.

Trump was overheard saying Xi would gift Trump some roses for the White House Rose Garden. And he reiterated that the Chinese leader would visit the U.S. in September.

The president said the Chinese leader at one point described the U.S. as a “declining nation,” which Trump said in a post on Truth Social was a reference to the Biden administration.

Hours after Trump left, the Chinese Foreign Ministry called for the end to the war in Iran.
