Ohio GOP senator says Miller ‘unfit for public office’ if ‘guilty of domestic violence’

Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) on Thursday said Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio) would be “unfit for public office” if the allegations of domestic violence leveled by his ex-wife are true.

Miller, whose ex-wife has accused him of throwing hot water at her, pointing a gun at her head and breaking their daughter’s collarbone, is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee over allegations of domestic abuse and illegal drug use. He has denied the accusations and has vowed to remain in the race for his reelection despite mounting scrutiny.

Asked by NewsNation whether he thinks Miller is unfit for office, Husted said, “Well, let’s say this and be clear about this: Any domestic abuse is intolerable.”

“Any member of Congress who’s involved in domestic abuse should resign. That’s why I am glad that the House opened up an ethics investigation. They will get to the bottom of whether those allegations are true. And if they’re true, then he should step down,” Husted, who is in a tight reelection race of his own, said.
