Trump renews pressure on Senate to pass bill making daylight saving time permanent

President Trump reupped his pressure on the Senate on Wednesday evening to pass a bill making daylight saving time permanent. 

In a Truth Social post nearly identical to one he shared earlier this month, the president urged Republicans in the upper chamber to pass the Sunshine Protection Act of 2025. 

This legislation, approved by the House last month in a 308-117 vote, would enshrine daylight saving time as the standard time nationwide. Twenty-two Republicans and 95 Democrats in the lower chamber opposed its passage. 

“For many years, the vast Majority of Americans have asked to make Daylight Saving Time permanent, but no Administration has been able to get it properly done, until now,” Trump wrote in the post.
