Bass says Pratt AI ads in LA mayor race ‘taking on a violent trend’

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D) on Tuesday accused mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt’s (R) AI-generated advertisements of “taking on a violent trend” in depicting the city as a crime-ridden dystopia.

The ads showed Pratt, a former reality TV star, as a Batman-style vigilante fighting masked agents wearing vests featuring the letters “DSA,” a reference to the Democratic Socialists of America. Bass is depicted as a judge wearing makeup that resembles the Joker and is seen flanked by California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and former Vice President Kamala Harris.

Residents of the city and an AI-generated Secretary of State Marco Rubio, acting as the DJ, are also seen throwing tomatoes at Bass, Newsom and Harris before the text, “LA is worth saving,” appears.

“Well, the throwing of tomatoes, which looked like blood, or drowning me and the governor in a reservoir, but there’s also other violent scenes,” Bass told CNN‘s Elex Michaelson. “And so, I’ve noticed that it’s taking on a violent trend, and that is very scary.”

The incumbent called the ads supporting Pratt “absolutely 150 percent........
