MANHATTAN, N.Y. (WPIX) — Luigi Mangione, accused of fatally shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City two years ago, is expected to plead guilty to federal stalking charges on Friday, according to The New York Times.

NewsNation reported that Mangione’s federal case is set for an emergency conference Friday, fueling speculation he could be negotiating a plea deal just weeks before his state trial is set to begin.

Mangione is expected to make the plea deal in an 11 a.m. hearing in Manhattan federal court, where he faces stalking charges in connection with the 2024 killing of CEO Brian Thompson, the Times reported.
