Guthrie family makes new plea after ransom notes unveiled: ‘Our hearts are in ruins’

The Guthrie family made a new plea Saturday for anyone to “come forward” with information regarding the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, following the release of two early ransom notes on Friday.

The notes were originally sent to a Tucson TV station, KOLD, after Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today Show host Savannah Guthrie, disappeared Feb. 1 from her home, authorities reported in a press release associated with the release of the notes.

“Someone recognizes the writing in the ransom demand notes,” Savannah Guthrie wrote in a Facebook post Saturday about the kidnapping. “You can do so anonymously. The reward is available. There is a way to end this situation and do the right thing.”

The second ransom note released by authorities indicated Nancy Guthrie died shortly after being kidnapped of something that was “heart related.”
