SNL opens with Hegseth, Patel and Kavanaugh drinking at DC bar

The latest Saturday Night Live (SNL) cold open featured actors playing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, FBI Director Kash Patel and Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh drinking at a bar in the nation’s capital.

The show starts with Hegseth, played by Colin Jost, entering Martin’s Tavern in Georgetown. He then ordered a shot of beer with a pint of whiskey dropped into it — which he called a “reverse Irish car bomb.”

“It’s just nice to have my sneaky bar here where I’m not going to run into anyone from work,” Hegseth remarks. “Because none of [President] Trump’s people like drinking as much as I do.”

Kavanaugh, played by Matt Damon, then arrives. The Supreme Court justice ordered six Bud Lights and three shots of Jameson, which the bartender, played by Kenan Thompson, referred to as a “6-3 decision.”

During their confirmation hearings, lawmakers questioned Hegseth and Kavanaugh on allegations of sexual assault and excessive drinking. During his 2018 confirmation hearing, Kavanaugh famously remarked, “I like beer. I still like beer.”
