DC Bureau: Decoy POTUS Departure

Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) on Thursday laid into President Trump for last month’s secret plane swap, when the president flew out of Turkey via a separate jet from the original one he boarded.

During an interview on “CNN News Central,” Coons said news reporters and Cabinet officials accompanying Trump at the July NATO summit in Turkey “should not have been put on a plane” at a serious risk of a potential Iranian attack. 

The Washington Post reported Monday that the threat of an attack from the Islamic Republic amid the war was the reason Trump was moved from the old Air Force One via a catering truck to a smaller Air Force C-32A plane before taking off from Ankara.
