‘Queen of Versailles’ star Jackie Siegel to mark annual Naloxone Awareness Day in DC

The so-called Queen of Versailles is trading her kingdom for Capitol Hill, heading to Congress to mark a day she championed dedicated to bringing attention to naloxone, commonly known as the brand name Narcan, which can reverse opioid overdoses.

“Ten years ago, no one knew what Narcan was,” Jackie Siegel told ITK in an interview.

Now Siegel — the subject of the 2012 documentary “The Queen of Versailles,” which focused on her and her husband David’s quest to build a mansion in the same style as the famed French palace — is coming to Washington for the fourth annual National Naloxone Awareness Day.

The Thursday event at the Hart Senate Office Building is set to include Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.), who co-sponsored bipartisan legislation in 2023 to create the annual day marked on June 6, along with Drug Enforcement Administration head Terry Cole, among others.

Siegel helped direct the Narcan-focused push following the 2015 overdose death of her 18-year-old daughter, Victoria. Siegel said, while unresponsive, her daughter had a pulse when medical personnel........
