Marty Makary to resign as FDA commissioner after just one year

Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Marty Makary will announce his resignation on Tuesday, according to multiple outlets, amid mounting reports of President Trump’s growing dissatisfaction with the physician’s tenure. 

Politico Pro was first to report on Tuesday that Makary is resigning from his role, set to be replaced by Kyle Diamantas, who will serve as acting director. A source familiar with the development told Endpoints News that Makary plans to announce his decision later this afternoon.

The Hill has reached out to the White House and the Department of Health and Human Services for comment.
