Another round in Trump’s ‘forever cease-fire’

Ronald Reagan coined the phrase “There you go again” during his 1980 presidential debate against President Jimmy Carter. 

On Monday, President Trump had his own “there you go again” moment, announcing, “We will NOT be doing the scheduled attack on Iran tomorrow [Tuesday]” in light of “serious negotiations” on a peace deal.

Today marks the 83rd day of the War with Iran — at least for the first 38 days, which were defined as Operation Epic Fury. We are now 45 days into Trump’s forever cease-fire, chasing a deal.

Unfortunately, what Trump calls serious negotiations can be better described as a carefully choreographed dance, with the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran — Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Commander Ahmad Vahidi — in the lead. And Iran is perfectly willing to dance with the White House to gain more time.

Trump talks tough, telling Fox News host Sean Hannity last Thursday that, “They’re [Iran] finished. Now they can make a deal or they get annihilated. I don’t want to do that.”

And on Sunday he posted on Truth Social, “For Iran, the Clock is Ticking, and they better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!”

But he intentionally left the door open when he said, “I don’t want to do that,” meaning to annihilate Iran. No one knows that better than Vahidi, who has evidently broken Trump’s “Art of the Deal” code. 

Vahidi is not worried about Trump’s  threats. Rather, he chooses to dance, knowing he can simply dangle a counterproposal at the 11th hour, and the........
