Trump cancels strikes on Iran; claims deal almost done
President Trump said Thursday that he canceled the forthcoming strikes and bombings against Iran, citing progress in discussions with Tehran’s leadership.
“Based on the fact that discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved, I have, as President of the United States of America, cancelled the scheduled strikes and bombings against Iran this evening,” the president wrote in a post on Truth Social.
“Discussions and final points have been, in both concept and great detail, approved by all parties involved, including the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, and others,” he added.
But, the president said the U.S. naval blockade, which has been in place since April, will remain in place “until this Transaction is finalized,” adding that the time and place of the signing will be announced “shortly.”
