Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is endorsing Brook Park City Council member and ironworker Brian Poindexter as he challenges controversy-ridden Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio) in November.

“He’s an example of somebody who walks the walk. He knows what working families are going through because he’s literally a card-carrying union ironworker,” Buttigieg, who’s widely seen as a 2028 hopeful, told The Hill in an exclusive interview ahead of the announcement.

“He’s raised in a working-class family, and so he’s in this for the right reasons and has the right priorities.”

Poindexter is running against Miller, a two-term incumbent who represents a swath of Ohio situated south of Cleveland and west of Akron, in a seat that, in any other cycle, would be seen as likely Republican. President Trump won Ohio’s 7th Congressional District in 2024 by 11 points.

But Miller is facing serious domestic abuse allegations........
