Airport security: Are TSA wait times still long? Here’s how to check
(NewsNation) — Long airport security lines have eased since TSA workers started getting paid again, with wait times returning to more typical levels at major hubs.
Two of the hardest-hit airports — Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta and George Bush Intercontinental in Houston — reported security wait times under 10 minutes as of midday Friday.
That’s a stark turnaround from recent weeks, when both airports saw lines stretch for hours at times.
Conditions have also improved at New York City’s three main airports — JFK, LaGuardia and Newark — which are once again posting wait times online after temporarily suspending that data.
Most terminals across the three airports showed general security waits under 15 minutes midday Friday. JFK’s Terminal 5 was the exception, with general security lines stretching to 40 minutes as New York City public schools kicked off spring break.
