Projected 2027 Social Security COLA adjusted slightly after new inflation report
(NEXSTAR) – Following a drop in inflation last month, a projected estimate for the impending Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for Social Security recipients has declined slightly.
The latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows the consumer price index increased by 0.1 percent last month, with the annual inflation rate dropping to 3.4 percent.
In its own update Wednesday, The Senior Citizens League cut its COLA prediction from the 3.8 percent increase it projected last month to 3.6 percent. It’s still roughly in line with the estimates TSCL has released all year: 3.9 percent in April, 3.8 percent in May and 3.8 percent in June.
